MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

Welcome to the Village of Bergen website and to the opportunity it gives us to share a little of our community with you; our residents and visitors. Our village is a small close-knit community sharing our daily experiences, celebrating special events, working to preserve our past, and heading into the future as we continue to develop our sense of place.

Sense of place; a combination of characteristics that makes a place special and unique; it involves the human experience in a landscape, the local knowledge and folklore. Our work to bring new life to our historic downtown district, to continue to create recreational opportunities for all age groups, to rebuild our landscapes, to encourage visitors to stop and visit our parks and join in our annual celebrations shares our sense of place with everyone.

The goals of the Board of Trustees and Village Staff are to provide quality services, programs and facilities in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, to preserve Village history and tradition, to encourage and welcome new business, and to foster a partnership with all members of the Bergen community and those communities around us. Through the participation of residents in our government and our partnerships with the business community, we work together to build and reflect our sense of place, to continue to be Bergen… a great place to live.

Our village website and our Facebook page allow us continuous communication with residents and businesses, both current and future, and visitors interested in board topics, events, activities, and the village in general. Accurate and continuous communication is essential if we are to properly serve the public, we are committed to that principle. There is an open invitation to our board meetings, held the second Wednesday of each month; there is time reserved in the agenda of all meetings for residents to address the board with questions and comments. I am happy to make time to meet with you one-on-one to answer your questions and listen to your concerns, comments and suggestions.
