Department of Public Works (DPW)

The Village of Bergen Department of Public Works headed by Supervisor Joseph Chimino keeps Bergen looking beautiful. From our parks in the summer to our streets in the winter you can count on them to keep things looking their best.

The DPW's responsibilities include:

• Street and sidewalk maintenance and repairs
• Plowing streets and sidewalks
• Maintenance of Village equipment and buildings
• Street sweeping
• Municipal electric system operation and maintenance
• Sewers system operation and maintenance
• Installation and maintenance of storm sewers and retention pond
• Maintenance and cleaning of sanitary sewers and maintenance of the pump stations
• Mowing Village parks and property
• Planting flowers and trees
• Leaf and brush pick up
• Installation and removal of holiday decorations
• Maintenance, installation and removal of street planter boxes, picnic tables and garbage cans
