Bergen resident Ellen Menzie recieved the New Yorl State USBC "Service to Youth Award" at the Rose Garden Bowl.  Read the full article from the Batavia Daily News here.  The Village congratulates and thanks Ellen for her years of service to area youth.

As the Bicentennial of the Town of Bergen approaches, the 200th Anniversary Committee is putting the final touches on the plans for the celebration. A ceremony will take place on April 13th, 2013 at Mount Rest Cemetery commemorating the formation of the town in 1813; the program will include the American Legion Color Guard, musical numbers by members of the Byron-Bergen Band, solo by Sonia Catalino, other community groups, the dedication of a town tree and time capsule, speakers, and tolling of church bells. The program will begin at 1pm. Special accommodations are being made for our Octogenarians to attend the celebration; please call Fred Ely at 494-1574 to make arrangements for a ride to and from the event. Commemorative t-shirts are being sold at the town and village offices during regular business hours for $10 each. They are dark green with the Bergen Bicentennial logo in white. The Village has withdrawn from the Independent Energy Efficiency Program and created the Bergen Energy Efficiency Program. The move was made due to increasing cost of participating in the IEEP. The new program will be run by the village office which will allow them to create programs that better fit the community. If you have any questions please contact the office at 494-1513

The Village is considering making changes to the current refuse pickup payment system. In each electric bill there is a survey to complete and return to the Village Office or you can complete the survey online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QMZFMZJ Please take a moment to share your opinion with us so we can better serve you.

Beginning Wednesday February 6th Waste Management will take over refuse and recycling services in the village.  Waste Managment purchased Heberle Disposal.  Until they have completed the new routes they are unable to tell us exactly what time pick up will be, to be safe we advice that all residents place garbage to the curb by 6:30am.  If you have any questions please contact the Village Office at 494-1513.
